This is a hugely significant weekend in the life of the Church. It is often a time we see people at church who are not normally there. That is not the case this year with us all on lockdown.

What an opportunity for the Kingdom. Being stuck at home gives many people who would be out and about an opportunity to really reflect and engage with what this time is all about. This weekend we focus on Jesus’ incredible sacrifice for each one of us on the cross. On Resurrection Sunday we celebrate that the tomb is empty! We serve a Risen Saviour in whom we find our life.

You are invited to join the Tenebrae service, broadcast from our Youtube Channel. Prepare 8 candles and bring a nail each beforehand.

Good Friday

The Good Friday message will be emailed at 07:30am,
followed by a Facebook communion service.

Join Pastor John for communion on Facebook.

Prepare whatever elements you have to participate together.

Resurrection Sunday

This Sunday, we have two messages to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, from Roland and John, which will be on Youtube and emailed at 07:30am.

Celebrations and sadness within our family this week

  • Avis Reynolds celebrated her 95th birthday on the 3rd April.
  • Brian and Taytum Allwood celebrated the birth of their son Ethan William on the 4th April.
  • Ian MacDonald went to be with the Lord on the 8th April. Please keep his wife Barbara and family in prayer.

Prayer Covering Needed

  • Members of our church family are going to minister and hand out masks at three of the Homeless camps set up at Strandfontein this evening to 1500 people.
  • This is a partnership with HOSA, Hands and Feet, and CBN done on request from the operational manager of the tents, and has gone through authorised channels.

How We Are Involved

  1. The Solidarity Fund (THANK YOU for your contributions)
    • This is the one appeal we are making that enables us to make a combined effort to help both our own people and channel support through organizations and churches we are in relationship with.
    • If you are a part of our church family and have a financial need directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic then please send your requests via Michelle.
    • Feedback on support given: We have just received requests from our partner churches Faith Community in Lavender Hill and Capricorn Community to assist with their feeding schemes and we are supporting this through our fund from this next week. Harare Baptist has sent through a list of their needs that we can contribute towards.
  2. Assist in making face masks needed for all staff in Community Clinics: Contact Tere Basson on 082 825 6252 for the pattern. Masks will be collected and delivered to various facilities.              Ray Weimann is collecting masks for workers at Retreat Hospital which services a poorer community. Contact her on 081 271 3993. She has fabric for you.
  3. As Life groups: Taking care of the member within your groups who have needs as you are able.
  4. We encourage you to join the various CANS (Community Action Networks) which are active in each of our suburbs. Sign up now to join a Community Action Network.
  5. Shoprite Group Virtual Voucher System: These vouchers can be redeemed immediately once received. You just need to send to a recipients cell number.
