John grew up in Cape Town and later moved to Pretoria where he became a follower of Jesus. He began his ministry in Johannesburg and has been the Senior Pastor of Connect Church since 2008. John is passionate about the local church, and loves to see the way God uses ordinary people for His glory. Since discovering what it means to live a Spirit-filled Christian life, his desire is for every believer to live in the power of the Holy Spirit.
John’s vision is to see Connect Church become a vibrant group of Spirit-filled Christians, who are growing in faith and influencing their community and city because of their love and zeal for God.
John is married to Tere, who leads the Women’s Ministry at Connect Church, and they have two adult children, Chris and Shayley.
Howard has been a pastor at Connect Church for over 20 years. His passion is to help people come to know the Lord and to continue the work of Jesus. He has a deep love for the Church and wants to see thriving Christian communities everywhere modelling life in the Kingdom of God.

Howard is married to Joanne, a physiotherapist, and they have two sons.
Pastor | Operations & Administration | Pastoral care & oversight
Shelley hails from KwaZulu Natal where she committed her life to Christ at the age of 13, but is delighted to call Cape Town home. She oversees Pastoral care, our PrimeTime ministry, Life Groups and Courses at Connect Church, and is incredibly grateful for the privilege of serving this church family on the pastoral team since 2001.
Shelley is married to Mike, a teacher at local boy’s preparatory school, and is an avid coffee drinker and cat whisperer.
Pastor | Children’s Ministry
Jolene has been part of the pastoral team at Connect Church since 2000, and is the pastor with responsibility for our Children’s Ministry – a long-time passion of hers. From cooking large quantities of scrambled eggs on kids’ camps to facilitating special children’s church services, Jolene’s heart for kids’ ministry is apparent wherever she goes.
‘Jo’ as she is fondly known, is often seen been dragged around Meadowridge by her two boisterous weimaraners, or having coffee with her husband Jono.
Pastor | Youth Ministry
Roland was born and raised in the Eastern Cape and has been in Cape Town since 2011 when he felt moved by God to join Connect Church as Youth Pastor. His primary responsibility is overseeing our vibrant teen ministry, and he loves it so much you’d almost think he was a teenager himself!
Roland loves Jesus and is always keen to share how he came to faith in Christ – it is a story worth telling! He is passionate about the outdoors, adventure and endurance sport, particularly mountain biking. Rolls (as he is known around the church) is married to Mandy who works at Noah’s Ark and they have a precious little boy, David.
Pastor | Connect Muizenberg
Brad has been a part of Connect Church since 2004 and has been permanently on staff since 2013. He was initially involved in Young Adult Ministry for many years, and more recently has been leading in our Muizenberg Congregation. At the end of 2016, Jason Humphreys moved away to pastor a church in London and Brad has taken over the pastoral oversight in Muizenberg. He has a vision to see the Muizenberg Congregation carrying the light of God’s glory into their lives outside of the church building so that the world may know the goodness and greatness of the Kingdom of God and it’s King! Brad is married to Glenda and they are looking forward to the day when they will have 2 little pugs running around their home
Tere is the Women Connect Ministry co-ordinator at Connect Church, and is married to John, our senior pastor. They have two children, Shayley and Chris. She has a passion for God, a passion for people, a love of creative ideas and is full of enthusiasm. Tere’s gift of faith is the key that unlocks ‘this treasure in jars of clay’, and she struggles to accept the words ‘not possible’ or ‘can’t do!’ as she continually reminds others that nothing is impossible for God.
Tere is fully committed to taking the Gospel into the surrounding communities, which she does specifically through her role as founder and director of Hidden Treasure SA. By speaking at seminars on behalf of Hidden Treasure, mentoring women in business, setting up charity shops and training staff, she makes the love of Christ tangible in the way they work, serve and care.
Tere runs regularly to keep fit, hopes to run a marathon one day and will never run out of words or ideas to keep herself and others excited in their work for the King!
